Genesis House - Our
involvement with Genesis House (a temporary shelter for area homeless
people)
has been an on-going mission project for our church, mostly through
providing
some financial support. We also support Genesis House by collecting
needed supplies and sundries on an "as needed basis".
<>Interfaith Caregivers - Interfaith Caregivers is a caring community of volunteers from any faith and any age that primarily serve the frail elderly, as well as the physically, emotionally, mentally disabled and their families. Interfaith Caregivers provides friendly visitation, telephone reassurance, respite care, transportation, advocacy referral and other support services. Our church supports Interfaith Caregivers financially. > Portville Community Food Pantry - Our involvement with the food pantry goes beyond housing it at the First Presbyterian Church of Portville. The Food Pantry Director and the Food Pantry Coordinator serve as volunteers from our congregation. The Food Pantry is staffed through volunteers, some of whom are members of our congregation. We also support the food pantry through congregational food drives and Hunger Fund offerings. Rebuilding Together - Rebuilding Together is a national volunteer organization that works in partnership with communities to rehabilitate housing, particularly for low income elderly or disabled homeowners. The goal is to keep people living in warmth, safety, and independence, building better communities across America. Local volunteers are recruited to do the work. The First Presbyterian Church of Portville has participated with Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April) on the local level for over 10 years. Because of the unpredictable weather for western New York in April, the local chapter runs the Rebuilding Together in July. (Now that can get a bit confusing!) Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Program - This past year, as in previous years, our church participated in ringing the bells for the Salvation Army Kettle Program. Our day for ringing the bell was December 5th. The monies collected for the Salvation Army went towards meeting the needs of many families. Warming House - The
Warming House is a locally run soup kitchen (managed by St. Bonaventure
University) that we support through
donations
of food items and money.

![]() Regional Missions: Royal
Family Kids Camp - This is a camp
for
abused, neglected, or abandoned children that we support financially.
The
mission of the camp is to create positive memories for the children who
attend the camp. The camp, which runs for one week, takes place
in
the month of July. Children are recommended for the camp through Social
Services. This week of camp for these children is a moment in time when
they begin to learn that there is some good in the world. Benedict
House -Benedict
House offers a place for persons living with AIDS to live and receive
the
support that is needed as they deal with the ravages of this disease.
We
have supported Benedict House of over three years. Kevin Guest House is the nation's first Hospital Hospitality House. It offers a safe, warm secure respite providing comfort, support and affordable accommodations for patients, outpatients and their loved ones. Kevin Guest House is located on the edge downtown Buffalo, in the heart of the "Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus." It is just a few steps from Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Buffalo General Hospital, between Carlton and High Streets.

![]() Global Missions: Wycliffe Bible Translators - The Presbyterian Church of Portville has supported Wycliffe Bible Translators for many years. We have provided financial support for the Doty's who are missionaries to Thailand. Throughout the years our church has developed a very supportive relationship with the Doty's and have invited them to our church whenever they are back in the area to provide our congregation with an update of their latest mission work.
